Frequently asked

Everything you wanted to know about solar & electrical work in Kenya.

Twenty-plus years of on-site experience — distilled into straight answers.

How much does a solar system cost in Kenya?

A basic 1.5 kVA backup starts from around KSh 120,000, a 3 kVA hybrid system from about KSh 250,000, and a 5 kVA whole-home hybrid from KSh 450,000 — final pricing depends on battery capacity, panel wattage and site conditions. We provide a free written quote after an on-site engineering assessment.

What size solar system do I need for my home?

As a rough guide: 1.5 kVA runs lights, TV, WiFi and a fridge; 3 kVA adds a washing machine and small kitchen appliances; 5 kVA runs a full modern home including an iron and microwave; 10 kVA and above are for large homes, offices and small industry. Share your monthly KPLC bill and appliance list and we'll size it precisely.

Do you install solar across Kenya or only in Nairobi?

We are Nairobi-based (Terry House, Mfangano Street, CBD) and we install across the country — Nairobi, Kiambu, Machakos, Nakuru, Nyeri, Mombasa, Kisumu, Eldoret and beyond. Site visits outside Nairobi include a travel component in the quote.

What is the difference between hybrid and off-grid solar?

Hybrid systems stay connected to KPLC and use grid power as a backup to solar and battery, so you never run out. Off-grid systems disconnect from KPLC entirely and rely on solar + battery only — best where the grid is unreliable or unavailable. Most homes and offices we install today are hybrid.

How long does a solar installation take?

A typical residential 3–5 kVA hybrid installation takes 1–2 working days after materials arrive. Larger systems, industrial installs and electric fence + solar combinations can take 3–7 days.

How long do the batteries last?

We install lithium-ion battery banks (LiFePO4) rated for 6,000+ cycles — that's roughly 10–15 years of daily cycling under normal use. Older lead-acid batteries last 3–5 years; we generally do not recommend them for new installs.

Do you install electric fences?

Yes — high-voltage perimeter electric fences for homes, estates, warehouses and industrial sites, complete with energizers, earthing, warning signage and integration with your gate, alarm and CCTV. We also service and repair existing fences.

Do you offer emergency electrical services?

Yes, 24/7. Call +254 722 775623 any time for power outages, tripping DBs, burning smells, no-power emergencies or fault diagnosis. Same-day site visits across Nairobi and surrounding counties.

Do you handle CCTV and appliance repair too?

Yes. We install and maintain CCTV systems for homes and businesses, and our technicians repair cookers, washing machines and other home appliances either on-site or in our workshop.

Do you offer a warranty?

Yes. Panels carry the manufacturer warranty (typically 25 years performance), inverters 5–10 years, lithium batteries 5–10 years, and our workmanship is warrantied for 12 months from commissioning.
